Prince Arctic

I never liked the hate Arctic got. Like yes, he was a bad parent, but he was a good husband and imo not enough people point out the problems Foeslayer brought. Often when I see who's at fault for this broken family, I mostly see people point to Arctic only, ignoring the fact that Foeslayer did the bare minimum to help him feel at home in the City of Night.

Like, what did Foeslayer ever do for him? Arctic sacrificed so much of his life for her (his placement amongst Icewing royalty, his homeland, family, friends and even his sanity due to animus magic), and she didn't give up anything for him at all. They both could've ran away to the island he suggested (so they could be away from everything), but she insisted to go to her home, a thought that made Arctic hesitant.

And I'm not sure if it's just me, but I get a feeling that Foeslayer unknowingly neglects and dismisses Arctic's feelings. Like if he's so miserable in the City of Night, they why not just leave the City and live far away? She clearly shows displeasure of her mother's plans to use Arctic, so why not say screw her and leave? Nightwings don't have animus magic yet, and Arctic can protect both of them from Diamond.

Sure, life far away from what they both know would be difficult, but I feel it'd allow them to better understand each other, truly know if they're right for each other and allow time to pass before having dragonets (I have a strong feeling Vigilance pressured them to have dragonets as soon as possible to start introducing animus magic to Nightwings).

Tldr, Arctic was a bad dad, but Foeslayer was a bad wife. Both are equally at fault, along with societal pressure, for their family breaking appart.
